Holiday Rally Day #14: Slow Your Roll

Christmas is so close, yet so far away. Here’s where I’m at today:

Stresses of shopping, deadlines and planning are starting to pile up. Time seems to be running out while my list continues to grow. My kids’ focus in remote learning is dwindling by the minute, which means my focus and attention is being sucked into 5th and 8th grade. The holiday blues seem to be tugging at my heart strings.

Can you relate?

I woke up dedicating this Monday to “Getting Shit Done,” but was quickly hi-jacked by trying to upload pictures for Art for one daughter and researching the definition of a rhombus for the other!

This is the point that I have learned to completely let go of anything on my list and surrender to being a homeschool teacher. There is really no point in fighting it…this is just where we are right now in our lives. Surrender.

That being said, the theme for today is to Slow Your Roll! You spend every other day being a complete Rockstar. Take one day, maybe today – maybe its another day, to just slow your roll a little bit.

In case you didn’t know, we’re in the middle of a pandemic! That alone causes an extra layer of stress blanketed over all your other normal pre-2020 Holiday stresses. Just for today, give yourself permission to be the back-up singer or even part of the road crew or maybe even a fan in the audience!

Drop your shoulders away from your ears, walk slower than normal to the bathroom, drive in the slow lane, pick up take out for dinner, say no to something you’re supposed to do, take the time to play your favorite music in the car, eliminate something from your to-do list, blow off some ridiculous pressure that you’re putting on yourself, show up late, step outside for no reason, but a breath of fresh air…whatever it is, just go easy.

Are you with me? Share something that you did today to slow your roll!
