Holiday Rally Day #15: Love the Laughter

What makes you laugh - like serious gut-ache, cheeks hurting, tears streaming laugh? I love the rush of relaxation I feel after a good laugh, but sadly, I don’t feel like I’ve laughed that hard in a while.

They say, “Laughter is the best medicine.”

Scientists have done research to discover that laughter, humor and even just smiling have a number of benefits that support your physical and mental health, including:

-        Reduction of stress and anxiety

-        Improving optimism

-        Releases endorphins (the feel good hormone)

-        Decreases pain

-        Strengthens relationships

-        Increases memory

-        Boosts the immune system

-        Lowers blood pressure

-        Improves learning and creativity

It seems harder and harder to find some good laughs anymore. Life has been so serious and intense since Covid ruined the party!

For some people, humor and laughing come naturally. It’s just part of who they are. Funny people are few and far between, so when I find one I try to hold on to them😉

Personally, I’m really good at sarcasm, but that can come across as negativity and criticism, so I’ve been curtailing my sarcasm lately.

I can be silly, but I have to be in the mood. I get a lot of my laughs from memes, comedians (I love Jim Gaffigan!), and movies (Has anyone noticed there aren’t very many NEW funny movies?). To be honest, I do a lot of my scrolling searching for something funny – usually pet videos, memes or slapstick humor videos.

I’m looking for more laughter ideas.

Where do you find your laughter?
