Holiday Rally Day #11: Imbibe With Boundaries

‘Tis the Season to Be Merry!

We all tend to indulge in All The Things during the Holiday Season! That’s what it’s all about, right? Celebrating, partying, connecting, spreading good cheer, gifting, friendships, drinking and eating.

This is such a tough season for not only those who are sober, but also those of us who are trying to stay within bounds, trying to be healthy, trying to lose weight or trying to survive the pandemic without completely losing it!

If you know me, you know I love a good party with a cocktail in my hand! Always have and always will.

However, I’ve spent a lot of time in the last few years trying to find a good, happy medium where I can enjoy my cocktail consumption without the guilt and negative side effects, including weight gain, anxiety, depression, brain fog, restless sleep, etc.

I’ve found that in order to do that, I’ve had to set boundaries for myself.

My Naturopath recently told me that the average woman can have 7 drinks/week without it negatively effecting the body. (Men can have 14 – of course! They get more drinks and no line at the restroom😉!)

So, I shoot to stay in the boundary of 7 drinks per week. Within that, I’ve had to come up with a little bit of a schedule to stick to, which involves some no-drink-nights and other guilt-free cocktail nights. Is it always perfect? Of course not because…life, but I do my best to just keep going.

This works for me, for now and I’m hoping to stick to it through the holidays.

What are your boundaries for imbibing this holiday season?
